Anxiety that keeps you running, even when you look calm.

Anxiety counseling helps when your mind won't slow down, even while you keep performing. At PTP, counselors in League City help leaders, athletes and high achievers understand the pattern behind the worry, build practical skills, and move toward what matters. Meet in person in League City or by telehealth anywhere in Texas. Your first 20-minute consult is free.

The burden

What it can feel like.

A lot of the anxiety we see doesn't look like panic. It looks like over-preparing, replaying conversations at 2 a.m., checking your phone before your feet hit the floor, and never quite feeling done. From the outside you're handling it. On the inside it's exhausting.

Left alone, anxiety tends to shrink your life. You avoid the call, skip the risk, say yes when you mean no, and spend energy managing worry instead of living by what you care about.

How it can show up
  • Racing thoughts and trouble switching off
  • Tight chest, tension, or a stomach that never settles
  • Overthinking decisions and seeking reassurance
  • Irritability, poor sleep, or feeling constantly on edge
How we address it

Our take at PTP.

We don't try to argue you out of anxiety. We help you change your relationship with it, so it gets a smaller vote in how you live.

01
Understand the pattern

We map what triggers your anxiety, what you do to cope, and what that costs you.

02
Build practical skills

Grounding, defusion, and distress-tolerance tools from ACT and DBT you can use in the moment.

03
Move toward what matters

We get clear on your values and take small, committed steps toward them, even with anxiety along for the ride.

Where this can lead

What clients often work toward.

Everyone's path is different, and we tailor the work to you. Here's what this work often helps people move toward.

  • Feeling steadier in your body and quicker to recover after a spike
  • Less time stuck in your head and more time present with people and work
  • Making decisions from your values instead of from fear
  • A plan you can use on your own between sessions

Questions

Common questions.

What does high-functioning anxiety look like?

It often looks like being good at your job: over-preparing, double-checking, saying yes to everything and never feeling done. Underneath there's usually a constant hum of worry, trouble switching off at night, and a sense that slowing down isn't safe. Many people don't call it anxiety until it starts costing sleep or relationships.

Do I need medication for anxiety?

Not necessarily. Many people work on anxiety in counseling without medication, and others use both. We don't prescribe. If medication might help, we can point you to a trusted local prescriber and, with your permission, coordinate so the work fits together.

How is this different from learning to relax?

Relaxation helps, but trying to force anxiety away often makes it louder. Our work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: you learn to notice anxious thoughts without obeying them, make room for discomfort, and keep acting on what matters. The goal is a fuller life, not a perfectly calm one.

Do I need a diagnosis to start?

No. Plenty of people come in simply because worry is taking up too much space. We'll talk it through in your free consult.

Is this in person or online?

Both. We see clients in League City and by telehealth anywhere in Texas.
